Performing Book and Pamphlet Checks (Pink Slips)
DRC Book Slips (Pink Slips) are used to help us determine what needs to happen with a donated book or pamphlet. They are also used to inform the staff, such as the archivist or Squires technical services members, of the results of the search and what should happen with the item.

- At the top of the pink slip, fill in the date, your initials, and the donor, if known
- Search the online, shared catalog for the item — https://leeuniversity-squireslibrary.on.worldcat.org/discovery
- Search by title (ti=book name)
- If you don't find it by title, search by author (au=LastName, FirstName)
- May have to use initials as first name: ex: Fowler, K. N. Or sometimes the author in the catalogue will have their initial like Fowler, N.
- Once you find the book, click on it and the Call number and OCLC number will be on the page.
- If DRC already has the book, it will be in its own section towards the bottom and it will say Church or Pent before the call number. If not sure, just ask the archivist.
- WGS and DRC are the only places you will use to list the book locations
- If the item was not found in the shared catalog, then search the archives catalog (ArchivesSpace — Dixon Pentecostal Research Center | (libraryhost.com)) for the item. It might be in the "Pamphlet collection," "Tract collection," or "Rare and Archival Book collection" that are housed in the stacks. It could also be in the "book collection" that is housed at offsite storage. This is especially true for non-English language books and self-published, devotional type items.
- If the item was found in either the shared catalog or the archives catalog, then search the catalog at Flower Pentecostal Heritage Center to see if they need it (iFPHC.org | Flower Pentecostal Heritage Center). Make note if they have it or not in the additional comments box.
- Place the pink slip inside the front cover so that it can be seen while the book is closed. Group the items according to their status:
- we have it and Flower needs it = it goes in the box for Flower in the duplicates room to be shipped to them periodically
- we have it and Flower has it = it is evaluated by the archivist for which category of duplicates it should go to
- we don't have it = it is evaluated by the archivist for whether it will go to technical services at Squires to be cataloged or be placed in one of the archives collections
