Research Toolbox
Below you will find resources—links, finding aids, bibliographies, indexes—that can be helpful in researching the history, theology, and culture of world Pentecostalism, with a special emphasis on the Church of God (Cleveland, Tenn.). Some are resources housed and developed by the Dixon Pentecostal Research Center and others are links to partner scholars and institutions.
Catalogs of our holdings
A catalog gives an organized intellectual record of an item in the holdings, including its location. It does not generally give immediate, virtual access to an item, but it tells what we have in our available holdings and at least a little information about it. Some items in the catalog may be available virtually via one of the portals discussed below. When they are, we usually have a link to it in the catalog record.
We have two systems for cataloging our repository holdings:
Shared Library Catalog: Most, but not all, of the library-type holdings (such as, books, periodicals, and audio-visual media) are catalogued in the system shared with Squires Library. The library's tutorials are found here. The default search results include all the items at Lee University. From there you can limit the results to the Dixon Pentecostal Research Center. [One could also expand the results to include the other libraries in the Appalachian College Association.] Some items are available at multiple locations on campus. Identify the item location when contacting us for help.
Dixon Research Center Catalog: Additional books and other library-type materials can be found through the Dixon Research Center Catalog. It is also the place to find archival and artifactual materials that would not be found in the shared catalog designed for libraries. Collections of personal papers, manuscripts, ministerial or departmental records, council minutes, correspondence, scrapbooks, artifactual items (awards, kitsch, quilts, artwork, etc.) are catalogued in this system. Most of the audio-visual media is found in this catalog, as well.

Preservica pages
The Dixon Pentecostal Research Center uses Preservica as a platform for hosting and organizing digital images and documents. We currently manage two of these sites:
Church of God Heritage Ministries Preservica Site
This online hub serves to preserve and present items of historical significance from the Church of God around the globe. It is organized according to geographical regions and hosts items relevant to the history and heritage of the Church of God in those regions. Many of these items are housed at the Dixon Research Center, but a growing number are sourced from around the world via Church of God administrative offices, ministries, and educational institutions.
Dixon Pentecostal Research Center Preservica Site
As the resources are available, the Center staff will be digitizing many of our holdings including important early documents and artifacts. Included in the growing resources here are images of the minute book of the Christian Union at Piney Grove (1897–1932), images of R. G. Spurling's preaching chart, the early correspondence coursework of Bible Training School, images relevant to the history of the Church of God among African-descent peoples, and images of the general overseers of the Church of God. You can go to this site to browse or search. You may also end up here when following links from within the archives catalog.

Hollenweger Centre for Interdisciplinary Study of Pentecostalism and Charismatic Movements
Location: Vrije Universiteit (Free University), De Boelelaan 1105 1081 HV Amsterdam
Director: Miranda Klaver
The Pentecostalism book and periodical collections held by the Free University Library include some 3292 book titles and 74 titles of periodicals/serial works from the Hollenweger and Azusa collections. The collections have been catalogued and are accessible through the Vrije Universiteit catalog, the National Dutch catalog, and Worldcat. Traditionally, however, researchers and other users have had to visit the facility or request copies in order to make use of the materials. The aim of digitizing the material is to expand access to these important (historical) holdings. Digitization also enhances preservation of the material by reducing wear and tear on the originals for reference and reproduction and at the same time it will improve service by allowing more users to have access to the same material at the same time. The digitization program is focused primarily on relatively old and rare materials that are not already digitized or easily available elsewhere.

Open Access Digital Theological Library
Numerous resources on Pentecostalism are available here. According to the website, "The mission of Open Access Digital Theological Library (OADTL) is to curate high-quality content in religious studies and related disciplines from publisher websites, institutional repositories, scholarly societies, archives, and stable public domain collections. The OADTL uses the world’s most advanced integrated library system (ILS) for cataloging and discovery. This system, OCLC’s WorldShare, makes content easily discoverable and retrievable. The OADTL is staffed by professional librarians and curates content without regard for theological or confessional perspective. It is hoped that the increased access to high-quality religious studies content will serve scholars and students of religion."
