Wallace J. Sibley Jr. (1938–) started his ministry as an evangelist, mostly in Georgia and Florida. In 1963, he organized the Woodbine Church of God and he received his first pastoral position at the East Cumming St. Church of God. He also worked in education until 1978 while earning degrees from Edward Waters College and Florida A&M University.
His first Church of God administrative office was as regional director of evangelism for the Southeastern Black churches (1978–1982). He also served as a state administrative bishop, international evangelist, and 1986 he was elected a member of the Council of Eighteen. Later, he served as the director of Cross Cultural Ministries (2000–2004) and then as the first person of color elected as assistant director (2004-2006) and director (2006–2008) of Evangelism and Home Missions. In 2008, he was elected as secretary general—the first person of color to be elected to the International Executive Committee. In 2012, he received the honor of inclusion in the Hall of Prophets at Pentecostal Theological Seminary for his lifetime of ministry. That same year, Sibley became third assistant general overseer. Following his tenure there, he served on the International Advisory Council, World Missions board, and the board of Operation Compassion.
